Is ice fishing safe for young children?
Absolutely. Safety is our top priority at FrostLine Trips. We only operate on certified safe ice (minimum 4 inches for foot traffic), and our guides continuously monitor conditions. Every location is equipped with safety picks, throw ropes, and first-aid kits. We welcome children as young as 4 years old on our trips.
Do we need to bring any fishing equipment?
Not a single thing! All ice fishing equipment is fully provided — ice augers, rods, bait, tackle, seats, and heated shelters. We even provide kid-sized rods and gear. Just dress warmly in layers and we'll handle everything else for your ice fishing day.
What should we wear for an ice fishing trip?
We recommend layering: a thermal base layer, a warm mid layer (fleece or wool), and a waterproof outer shell jacket and pants. Waterproof insulated boots are essential — bring hand warmers too! We provide a detailed packing guide upon booking. Heated shelters mean you won't be in the cold all day.
What fish species can we expect to catch?
Depending on location and season, you'll typically target perch, walleye, pike, trout, and crappie through the ice. Our guides know exactly where the fish are biting and will position your group for the best possible ice fishing success rate. Kids especially love catching perch — they're feisty and exciting!
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Yes! You have the choice of catch and release, or keeping your fish within legal limits. All our fishing is conducted with proper licenses and within seasonal regulations. We can even clean and bag your catch for you to take home as a tasty souvenir from your ice fishing adventure.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer free cancellation up to 72 hours before your trip date for a full refund. Within 72 hours, cancellations receive a 50% refund or a free reschedule. In cases of severe weather or unsafe ice conditions, we will always reschedule at no charge — your family's safety always comes first.
